The next tour stop landed us at Truckworx Kenworth in Birmingham AL. The folks at Truckworx had a great venue setup including vendor booths, food trucks, and even a live band. These guys know how to draw in a big crowd!
Santa’s helpers were very busy welcoming all of today’s guests as they arrived.
A variety of vendor booths were available to guests. These are an excellent way to get your questions answered and take home some literature about their products and services.
Most of today’s attractions were setup inside the Truckworx service bays, making it comfortable and convenient. And of course, the orange T880s looked amazing under the bright service bay lighting.
Truckworx sure has a talented bunch down there. Corporate Sales Coordinator, Greg Franklin, is the lead singer of today’s live entertainment. Growling Greg & the How is a Birmingham based sould/blues band. You guys rock!
There was a plethora of mouthwatering items on today’s lunch menu including soup, burgers, pulled pork, grilled cheese (with bacon!), and shrimp tacos.
Today’s amazing lunch was catered by the Off The Hook and Melt food trucks. It’s great to see local businesses supporting one another.
Thanks to the Truckworx crew for all of your support hosting today’s amazing T880 tour stop! Thanks to all of the guests who made it out today to have fun and talk trucks with us!
Kenworth of South Louisiana
Today’s tour stop was in Grey Louisiana, at the Kenworth of South Louisiana dealership.
The bunch down south wasn’t messing around. First thing in the morning, the guys set up a custom multi-station grill trailer to handle the day’s cooking.
Visitors were welcomed by the hospitable Kenworth of South Louisiana team.
Here is a great comparison photo showing the T680 full height 76” sleeper and our mid roof 52” sleeper. Two beautiful examples of aerodynamic derived styling.
Is it lunch time yet? These guys are ready!
Don’t forget oysters on the half shell!
These two wanted to get a view from behind the wheel. And what a view it is. The T880’s large panoramic windshield, low hood crown height, large DayLite doors, and optimally located mirrors provide the operator a confidence inspiring perspective of their surroundings.
As the sun sets and the trailer is packed up, we’d like to thank everyone who came out to visit today and to the group at Kenworth of South Louisiana for hosting another incredible tour stop.
Today’s tour stop landed us in Houston TX. We setup the tour trucks and tour trailer on Performance Kenworth’s front lot.
Performance Kenworth already had a nice stock of T680s on the lot, including a 52” Mid-roof sleeper.
Here you can see the 52” mid-roof sleeper interior display found inside the tour trailer. The 52” mid-roof sleeper design was optimized for regional haul applications, where an operator may be spending two or three days on the road before returning home. The comfortable living environment of the 52” mid-roof sleeper is appointed with a liftable lower bunk for storage access, ample back wall storage, and a flat screen TV swivel mount.
The weather in Huston was beautiful.
A handful of tour partners were on site in Huston supporting customer’s questions and handing out product literature. Thanks to all of the T880 road tour partners; Bendix, Bridgestone, Chevron, Eaton, Hendrickson, and Michelin.
Thanks to everyone who came out to attend today’s tour stop in Huston, and thanks to Performance Kenworth for hosting!
Let’s keep this thing going! Today’s tour stop took us to MHC Kenworth in Tulsa OK.
The group setup shop inside the service bays making for a comfortable environment to check out the equipment and talk trucks.
The facilities at MHC were top notch. Just look at how clean those floors are!
Here some of the guests take a spin through the tour trailer.
So much to see inside to expandable 53ft trailer!
When lunch time came around, MHC put out a really nice spread for guests to enjoy.
Thanks to everyone who came out to talk truck in Tulsa, and thanks to MHC for hosting today’s tour stop!
Inland Kenworth - Phoenix
After an exciting few days with customers down in Chandler, the tour convoy stopped by to visit the folks at Inland Kenworth in Phoenix.
The Inland stop in Phoenix was loaded with T880s to ogle. Most of the trucks that we used during the customer event in Chandler made their way up to Inland for the day.
There were four different dump truck specs built for operation around various parts the US.
It’s not a bad deal, when people can enjoy lunch outside in mid-November without having to bundle up!
Phoenix even had this sweet two-toned T880 mixer truck on display.
Thanks to the great folks with the Inland Group for hosting today’s event, and thank you to all of the guests who came out and made it another successful tour stop. Next stop Dallas TX. See you there!
T880 Customer Event
In between our SoCal and Phoenix tour stops, Kenworth hosted a Vocational customer event in the desert of Chandler AZ.
Customers had a variety of colorful T880s to choose from during the ride-and-drive portion of the event.
Test drives were intended to demonstrate the performance of the new T880, so naturally, each truck was loaded accordingly.
A T680 Day Cab was also put to work.
The first T880 mixer spec was on display.
Legendary racecar driver, Bob Bondurant, shows his approval of the performance of the new T880!
Tomorrow the T880 tour will be making a stop at Inland Kenworth in Phoenix.
1021 North 59th Avenue Phoenix, AZ
Today’s event was hosted by the group at Inland Kenworth at their facility in Fontana CA.
California weather did not disappoint. It was a perfect day to be outside.
Inland had a sweet mini-dragster on display.
Where were these when I was growing up?
Lots of goodies to giveaway, including a raffle for an iPad mini!
The aerodynamics display, inside the tour trailer, demonstrates how Kenworth’s T680 has taken aerodynamic truck design to the next level.
I hope you brought your sunglasses, because the aluminum dump bed on the orange T880 was blinding in the California sun.
Getting comfortable in the driver’s seat of the T880.
Today’s lunch included fresh taqueria style tacos, beans, rice, and grilled jalapenos!
A big thanks to the folks at Inland Kenworth for sponsoring today’s event, and thanks to all of those who came out and said hi!
NorCal Kenworth - Let The Tour Continue!
The road tour is officially back on the West coast, and we’re starting things off by paying our friends at NorCal Kenworth - Morgan Hill a visit.
The group at NorCal prepared seating for guests inside a pair of their large service bays.
You might have noticed the orange T880 looks a little different since our previous stop in Abingdon. The Spiff team actually swapped out the orange T880 flatbed for this orange T880 Ohio-spec Aluminum 24ft end dump. This truck features an MX-13 engine, Eaton Ultrashift Plus ‘Vocational Construction Series’ transmission, three factory installed 8000 lb. Watson Chalin steerable lift axles, and a 46,000 lb. Hendrickson suspension.
The sunny California skies were a welcomed sight!
When it was time for lunch, visitors congregated inside a pair large services bays, which had been cleared for the day’s activities.
Thanks to NorCal Kenworth for hosting today’s road tour stop, and tanks to all of the guests who came out to spend the day with us talking trucks!
Worldwide Equipment - Abingdon VA
The tour’s last stop, before making the cross country haul to California, took place at Worldwide Equipment in Abingdon Virginia.
Guests were welcomed with some great freebies provided by Worldwide.
The precipitation wasn’t enough of a deterrent to keep visitors from getting a first hand look at the new T880.
When the rain picks up, the tour trailer will keep you dry and entertained.
These two take a seat in the full scale T880/T680 cab demo inside the tour trailer.
The rain held off long enough for everyone to grab a bite to eat from the onsite catering.
Thanks to all of the customers who came out to check out the 2013 Kenworth road tour, and thank you to Worldwide Equipment for hosting today!
Truck Enterprises - Harrisonburg VA
Our next stop brings us to Harrisonburg Virginia. The location of Truck Enterprises’ flagship dealership.
The Truck Enterprises group handed out some cool Kenworth beanies, which came in handy when standing outside to view the static truck displays. It was a chilly day in Harrisonburg!
A good place to warm up was inside where lunch was served. Pulled BBQ pork, baked beans, coleslaw and sweet tea really hit the spot.
Here, a group grabs a seat to kick back and enjoy the lunch provided by Truck Enterprises.
And don’t forget desert!
Thanks to all the folks at Truck Enterprises who made this another successful tour stop, and as always the customers who came out to show your support of the Kenworth products. I hope you left today with some new knowledge of Kenworth and a full belly!
